Lessons

Designed for individuals seeking to embrace a new skill or refine their sailing expertise, these lessons offer an immersive experience amidst the rhythmic waves and gentle breeze. Skilled instructors provide expert guidance, teaching fundamental sailing techniques, navigation skills, and safety protocols. Through hands-on practice, participants gain confidence in handling sails, maneuvering boats, and understanding the intricacies of wind and water. Whether aiming to explore newfound seafaring passions or enhance existing knowledge, adult sailing lessons offer an exhilarating blend of adventure, camaraderie, and personal growth against the breathtaking backdrop of Tampa Bay. Unleash your inner mariner, and set sail towards a thrilling voyage of discovery.

Recreational

The Club’s fleet of 4 Flying Scot Sail boats are available for members to sail as a group on Sunday as well as for individual use once certified by the Waterfront Director. Our experienced skippers are happy to take sailors of any level and teach them the ropes; all are welcome and there is no experience necessary. Each November the club hosts its Championship Regatta. Our perpetual trophy is hotly contested between the youth and adult sailors. After sailing wraps up the group gathers for dinner and drinks at the club.

PADDLESPORTS

The waterfront maintains a fleet of 4 paddleboards, 5 single kayaks and 3 tandem kayaks which are free for members to use and $10 per guest. Paddlers have seen all kinds of marine wildlife when exploring the bay: Manatees, dolphins, the occasional turtle and even stingrays. We’re happy for members and their guests to take fishing equipment with them and the Dockmaster can usually point out where he has seen a monster snook or sheepshead. We ask that paddlers do not venture further than 1.5 miles from the club.

Youth Sailing

Tampa Yacht and Country Club Youth Sailing is here to create well rounded youth sailors, and to instill a passion for the sport of sailing. We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun learning environment where young sailors can exercise their sailing skills, develop good sportsmanship, and enjoy the sport of sailing with their friends. We believe youth sailing is key to maintaining the health of our sport and strive to ensure each sailor makes happy memories on the water with us.

Mainsheet Mamas

The Mainsheet Mamas were chartered in 1973 as an organization of women dedicated to sailing and racing Optimist Prams and is a member of the Florida Women's Sailing Association (FWSA). The group meets most Thursday's throughout the year for sailing followed by lunch at the Club. The primary objective of this group is to teach and promote women sailing. Several Intra-club Regattas are held each year including the Gasparilla Regatta, Bloody Mary Regatta and Knot-the-Nelson Cup.

Summer Sailing

Each summer we host our Learn-to-Sail camps. With the US sailing mantra of Safety, fun and Learning in mind we take complete beginners and turn them into fully fledged sailors. During one of our week long sessions budding captains will learn the ins and outs of rigging, boat handling, seamanship, and water safety. Young  skippers will take command of our fleet of Optimists and learn to sail across the beautiful waters of Tampa Bay.
