Adult Sailing

Sunday sailing

Saiors are welcome to come and join us each Sunday for cruises and learning in the clubs fleet of Flying Scots. Sailors meet on F dock at 3PM. All are welcome and there is no experience necessary. The clubs qualified skippers and coaches will be happy to show you the ropes.

After sailing wraps up we gather for dinner and drinks at the club.

 Sailing Lessons

The learn to sail program is broken down into manageable chunks to help sailors progress quickly into self-sufficient sailors. All our courses are conducted in the club’s fleet of Flying Scot Sailboats but we can also get you into the laser or sunfish.

When we are learning we like to keep things flexible and work around a new sailors schedule. Each qualification is broken down into sessions, each session is a 3 hour block of sailing. We can run a maximum of two sessions during a day but are happy to spread sessions out over a few weekends.

For further information on sailing at the club please log in to check out the TYCC Sailing Log Book.

When to Sail

We offer lessons year-round, however some seasons offer more consistent wind and more comfortable temperatures. Our best winds occur during the fall, winter and spring. The summer months are light and very hot.
Evening sessions: Tuesday-Sunday, May – November
Day sessions:  Tuesday - Sunday, Year-round

What to bring

Sailing is an outdoor activity and sailors should become prepared to venture out into the bay. Please bring: sunscreen, hat, water bottle, sunglasses, gloves (gardening gloves work great), closed toed shoes, change of clothes, waterproof jacket, warm clothes in winter months and a cell phone in waterproof case.
